Why You Should Stop Drinking To Escape Reality!

Are you drinking to escape reality or life's problems?

Drinking to escape reality is a prevalent situation. You had an awful day at work, so you get home and reach for the bottle opener. As you slump down into your favourite armchair and take a big gulp of the wine - suddenly, everything seems a little better.

This is understandable because alcohol is a mild anaesthetic.

Then morning rolls around.

All of a sudden, all your problems reappear, but you have the added issues of guilt, regret, and tiredness. You drag yourself to work while the sledgehammer that appears to be snagged somewhere just under the top of your skull get to work.

Drinking to Escape Problems Does Not Last.

Stress Relief?

Life seems too slow in the boozy moment of last night's stress relief, and you could care less about your problems. If you are out at a bar or pub, everyone around you seems to be having a blast. However, the next day, you're right back where you started off from.

All your problems return, only now you have a headache to deal with. Not to mention that the very scent of food makes you want to throw up.

In instances of stress, sadness, temper or similar adverse emotions, the allure of alcohol consumption appears to provide one thing. A momentary break from reality. We're an impatient society these days. We don't want to wait for anything, we want to feel better, and we want it right now, God damn it!

The issue is that, regardless of how much we drink, all those challenges are still there when we recover. Alcohol does not stop life's problems; it just pauses their delivery. You are still getting all that was coming, plus the addition of all the horrible issues that alcohol brings with it.

Drinking To Escape Debt

For example: If you are stressed out by mounting debt. Spending $10 a day on wine or spirits is hardly helping the situation.

The average Stop Drinking Expert member saves over $3500 per year. Money that previously would have been spent on a foul-tasting drug made them feel terrible. It's a no-brainer, really.

It's A No-Brainer

The remedy to a vicious and hateful employer isn't at the bottom of a bourbon bottle, and the secret to taking care of a dysfunctional relationship isn't found by putting away an eight-pack of beer.

Proof of this intoxicated moment phenomenon is observed in a brand-new research study that suggests people are momentarily happier when consuming alcohol. However, drinking never corresponds to enhanced satisfaction with life in the long-term.

Renowned social protocol expert Doctor Geiger headed up the study. Found that individuals with drinking problems are much less contented with their lives.

Life Satisfaction and Drinking

Geiger's research study reviewed how happiness and alcohol consumption connect over a set time frame. Using an iPhone-based application and a traditional associate research method. Here's what they found:

iPhone Application:

With greater than 2.5 million user feedback reports, users showed researchers what they were doing, with whom and how cheerful they were. On a scale of 0 to 100, individuals were four percentage points happier when drinking alcohol. Good news, right? Well, not really because hardly any of this happiness flowed down into the times when they weren't drinking.

The research seemed to show that alcohol is like a sticking plaster. It is temporary, and there will be a pain when you take it off.

Conventional Research Study:

Individuals between the ages of 31 and 41 were asked to review how they felt when drinking alcohol compared to how they felt when they weren't drinking. Using those evaluations, the participants were asked to evaluate sensations of overall lifestyle contentment.

In the long run, scientists found that decreased sensations of wellness went hand-in-hand with questionable levels of alcohol consumption.

Summary

Despite all the technological advances we've made, there's no conclusive way to measure happiness or satisfaction in a research laboratory. Alcohol might give us an impression of joy in the moment. However, those intoxicating feelings of immediate satisfaction always fade, and they pale in comparison to the real thing.

The sensation of relaxation from alcohol is an illusion created by your subconscious conditioning by the drug.

Alcohol creates an uncomfortable sensation and then sets itself up as the solution to the problem. It should be evident that if there was no alcohol, then there would be no problem to solve.

I am so vocal about alcohol being the most devious and evil drug on planet earth. Some people get offended at that suggestion (mainly drinkers) but tell that to the families of the 2.5 million people killed by alcohol every year.
